Choosing the photos of your pet
When selecting photos for your pet portrait, the following guide will help you to choose images that allow me to create a lovely portrait for you
Clarity - The clearer the image the more detail I can add. If you can expand a digital image and it remains nice and clear, this is fantastic, especially for the portraits on agate as I can then add very fine details to the painting
Good lighting - does the photo show the animals colours true to life? Artificial lighting can alter colours
Character - Does the photo show the animals character? This is something I always ask people to consider when selecting a photo. After all, it's our pets wonderful array of characters that make them all so individually special and dear to us
The angle of your photo - try and select a photo taken at 'eye level' with the animal, rather than taken from above looking down at them. It gives a more balanced, realistic effect. Having said that, if your favourite shot is of your crazy spaniel jumping up with his nose in the camera, that's fine too! The mini canvas option works well for this kind of photo
Missing bits - If you have the perfect photo, but naughty kitty got distracted and you missed an ear off the picture, not a problem! Just provide me with photos of any 'missing bits' and I can use these for reference and add them into the portrait for you
