Long-eared Bat painting on agate

You don't see many paintings of bats, well not of the sort that celebrates their charm and beauty anyway! I have hand painted a sweet little long eared bat onto this beautiful semi precious agate stone slice. I use gouache paint and teeny tiny brushes to enable me to capture minute details. This fellas ears took some time to paint, there's a lot of them! I use the patterns and colours of the agate to provide an unusual background to my paintings, this piece is very unusual and it took me awhile to decide what would compliment it. I hope you'll agree I came to the right conclusion in the end. These unique little pieces of art make lovely gifts and sit nicely on any bookshelf.
I have coated the finished piece in a tough resin to enhance the lovely colours and to give long lasting protection to the painting.

The size is 8 cm x 6.5 cm, and it comes in a sweet little gift box complete with a display stand and certificate of authenticity signed by me.
